Walking to Sycamore Gap with Dogs - Easy Route

Dog Friendly Days Out Round-Up - June 2022

Ah I am so sorry I have been rubbish at updating this blog, it's just been a busy month! I thought I would share a round up of some of the dog-friendly places we've visited.

Firstly, during the recent hot spell, it was too hot to walk Fozzy so when it cooled down in the evening we decided to walk to our local pub (Brockwell Seam in Cramlington).

Dogs are welcome outdoors here and they have a few tables at the front and back of the pub. We were going to stay for 1 drink but ended up staying for 2 hours. Ooops! Lots of people kept coming over and fussing over Fozzy which he lapped up.

We took Fozzy and Ollie to Warkworth beach. It's dog-friendly year round and it's usually very quiet so ideal for letting them off lead for a bit without any distractions.

During our trip to Knaresborough we visited Mother Shipton's Cave. All areas are dog friendly (with the exception of the enclosed playground) and although it's mostly outdoors, there are little sheltered picnic huts where you can enjoy a coffee or picnic under cover.

Fozzy had a great time here and even dipped his paw in the magic wishing well to make a wish.

At the very start of the month Fozzy had his first trip to Newcastle. We visited Exhibition Park to see the Born Free Lions (now ended) and to visit Urban Green Cafe for lunch which is dog friendly inside and out and a really lovely spot.

Fozzy joined us on a trip to Eshott Airfield. Dogs are welcome in the viewing area and cafe (inside and out) and Foz had a lovely time watching the planes and meeting the other dogs.

We had a big family day out to Kirkharle Courtyard, Lake and Tea Room. There are lovely short dog walks around the lake and dogs are welcome in the tearoom courtyard.

On another lovely morning we headed to Rendezvous Cafe for them opening and yes, I ordered ice cream for breakfast. Dogs are welcome inside and out here and it's a lovely place to stop for ice cream.

The beach area in front of the cafe all the way to St Mary's Lighthouse is dog friendly too and it's free to park in Brierdene Car Park along the road.

Obviously we had to include a walk along the beach too.

Not a day out but on one night this month we toasted marshmallows in our fire pit. Fozzy did not know what was going on with us all sitting out in the garden late into the night but I think he enjoyed it.

We brought Fozzy and Ollie along the the Miner's Picnic at Woodhorn. It was a lovely day with lots of dogs in attendance, fantastic live music and a brilliant atmosphere. We'll be back next year.

Fozzy enjoyed a trip to Morpeth with us. Our highlight was My Pet HQ - what a fab shop! So much choice when it comes to natural and raw feeding. The riverside walk is lovely here.

We also had a nice walk around Richardson Dees Park in Wallsend and met up with Steve's parents and grandad who is staying in a care home nearby.

Jack had an evening kayaking with scouts at Wansbeck Riverside Park. The session was for 2 hours and we didn't think there was much point in driving there then home then back again so we just brought Fozzy along and enjoyed an evening walk along the river. It was lovely and we need to make the most of the summer and do more evening walks like this I think.

Ollie and Fozzy joined us for a quick drink at the Widdrington Inn near Amble. Dogs are welcome in the bar and beer garden here and it's a canny spot for people watching and making friends/having a chat with others.

Fozzy wasn't with us when we visited but Pranzo on Station Road in Whitley Bay is dog friendly in their outdoor area. It's lovely and shaded around lunchtime and a nice place to cool off. Their lunch deal is such a bargain!

Fozzy had his first doggy ice cream in Knaresborough - he loved it!

We stayed in a dog-friendly AirBnB near Ripon at the end of the month. Fozzy loved watching us play pool and the large enclosed garden. The pub along the road was dog-friendly too.

We're ending the month with a trip to Newcastle Quayside today - I will try and remember to share where we visited! We're hoping for the Redhouse for lunch which is super dog friendly and serves local pies. My kind of place.
