Hive Coffee Company Review

Hive Coffee Company is an independent coffee shop in Jarrow. Located next to Jarrow Hall (which is also dog friendly but do check restrictions as sometimes there are temporary measures in place for example during bird flu outbreaks). There is free parking opposite Jarrow Hall in a large car park or accessible parking near the entrance.

Dogs are welcome in the indoor and outdoor areas and I'd recommend booking in advance if you can as it is a popular place and they often turn customers away. If you do turn up on a whim, takeaway is always an option and there is outdoor seating in the grounds or the park next door.

Address: Hive Coffee Company. Church Bank. Jarrow. NE23 3DY

They are generally open daily from 10am. If travelling by public transport, Jarrow Metro Station is a 10 minute walk away, it is a 10 minute wak from the Tyne Pedestrian Tunnel and the Go North East 27 Bus stops close by.

The location is lovely. Don't miss the beautiful herb garden in the grounds.

Below is an example of the current Spring menu. Menus do change regularly and you can see the most up to date versions on their Facebook page. Generally, they specialise in yummy salads, seasonal breakfasts and sandwiches as well as homemade cakes.

Sometimes it can feel a bit manic and every time I've visited there has been a queue. Once you are seated though, service is good and prompt. If time is short, you can pre-order to takeaway and just wait by the back door at your allocated time too.

Dietary requirements are well catered for with GF, V and Ve options readily available. Oat, Almond and Soy milk are available as well as Vegan whipped cream.

Dogs can choose from a selection of treats provided by Doggy Delish Deli from the merchandise stand and there are water bowls outside too.

Below are a selection of dishes I've enjoyed over my past few visits. All of the food is super yummy and there are plenty of nutritious options alongside indulgent cakes too.

As well as delicious food and drinks to enjoy, there is also a merch stand packed with goodies from local businesses including local honey, local dog treats, local soaps and more. The place has a real community-minded feel to it.

There is a range of seating options to choose from including indoor tables and high-backed chairs, bar stools at the window and comfy sofas with coffee tables. There are picnic tables outside.
