Walking to Sycamore Gap with Dogs - Easy Route

Breakfast at Caboose at Blyth Boathouse

We have dined at Caboose Blyth a few times over the years and the photos in this post are from the past few years. Menu correct as of March 2022. As always, check with venue direct for the most up-to-date info, opening hours and menus.

Breakfast at Caboose at Blyth Boathouse

How gorgeous is this for a breakfast setting? Caboose Blyth sits on Blyth Harbour and you couldn't get closer to the sea. It's not unusual for boats to sail past and they really feel as if they are within touching distance.

You can choose from two indoor seating areas, a front outdoor terrace or the stunning rear terrace which overlooks the sea and harbour. Dogs are welcome inside and out at Caboose and staff will bring fresh water over in a dog bowl if you'd like some once.

You can just walk in but I do recommend booking in advance online if you can, especially when the weather is nice as it is a popular place and I'd hate for you to be disappointed / turned away / have to wait.

Caboose Blyth is located just behind Ridley Park in Blyth which is lovely for a dog walk afterwards or you can walk along to South Beach Blyth (which should take around 30 minutes). Caboose Blyth has their own car park, there is alternative free parking in the surrounding streets and it is an easy short walk from Blyth Bus Station in the town centre.

If you're making a day of it, the Commissioner's Quay is a lovely dog-friendly pub a few minutes along the road.

Back to Caboose though and can we just take another minute to admire the setting. It's so nice and the floor to ceiling windows really make the most of the view. Staff are always so attentive and can't do enough for you either. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait for food as it's all freshly prepared and cooked to order but if there is a little delay, staff will usually let you know and it's never been too long for us.

We tend to always visit Caboose for breakfast as it's a lovely way to start the day, especially when the sun is shining but they are also open for brunch, lunch, dinner and Sunday lunch. You can check out their full menu range here.

Breakfast is served from 9am-11:30am (currently Wednesday - Saturday) with Vegan, Vegetarian, Children's and GF options available. I like that they serve a range of dishes from meat free breakfast to eggs and pancakes. There is something for all tastes.

The kids options are well priced too and I like that there is something simple like beans on toast or something more substantial on offer. My kids always tend to order pancakes but it's nice to have options.

The menu has a little themed activity on the reverse which is a cute touch and will keep kids entertained as they wait for their order.

Caboose isn't somewhere to go for a cheap breakfast but it's not the most expensive either. Breakfast plus drinks for 5 of us tends to come in at £35-£45 for us depending on what we order.

Steve nearly always goes for the full English which he really enjoys. There is a choice of eggs and the option to add buttered toast which we'd recommend.

Pancakes are prepared fresh here - not just heated up in the microwave and because of this they can easily add / takeaway ingredients if needed.

I haven't seen an eggy bread sandwich on a menu anywhere else before. What a revelation and an indulgent change from the regular breakfast sandwiches I usually order. I'm 100% stealing this idea and asking Steve to recreate at home.

The coffee is strong and decent and it's just such a nice place for a relaxing breakfast and catch up. I wouldn't expect somewhere like this to be dog-friendly and I'm so pleased it is.
