Walking to Sycamore Gap with Dogs - Easy Route

Fox and Finch - A Dog-friendly Breakfast Spot in Whitley Bay

This post is based on a visit in February 2022. Please check the Fox & Finch website and social media for the most up-to-date info and menus.

My friends the Hoopers visited Fox & Finch in Whitley Bay with their dog Ivy the Canny Maltipoo a few weeks ago and mentioned we should give it a try. On the list it went.....

Fox & Finch is open for breakfast daily from 9am - 11:30am (they serve lunch / tapas in the afternoons and evenings so do check their website for menus and service times if you fancy that). You can book ahead online or just walk in as we did on a Tuesday morning.

If you'd prefer to visit later in the day, they currently offer a fab tapas deal - 4 tapas and 2 drinks for £21.95 Mon-Fri. Bargain! See their website for menu / t&cs.  I'm actually just reading their afternoon / evening menu now and it looks just as good as breakfast. I feel like I need to go back already and have my eye on their Asian Crispy Beef Salad.

Fox & Finch is on Park View which is one of the best streets in the North East in my opinion. It's full of lovely independent shops and businesses. Free and paid parking is available on the surrounding street and there are plenty of car parks to choose from in the vicinity too.

If you can't get parked on the street, we tend to use Park View Car Park which has 78 spaces, is free and just a short walk away (NE26 1LT) or failing that, the Playhouse Car Park is also free.

We were there to pick up a click and collect order from Nicholsons Butchers which is just along the road from Fox & Finch (btw I totally recommend Nicholsons Butchers Click & Collect service - it's fab).

I noticed there was also a dog groomers across the road - Scruffs to Crufts. It might be a nice idea to go for a walk along the sea front then breakfast with your pooch, then drop them at the groomers while you enjoy some shopping on Park View. Scruffs to Crufts also stock dog biscuits from local favourite Doggy Delish.

I loved the interior which was modern and welcoming with a bit of a foxy theme running throughout. There are a couple of different rooms and seating options including sofas, high seats by the window and regular tables. They were playing an early 00s playlist on our visit featuring the likes of S Club 7 and Girls Aloud which was right up my street.

Dogs are welcome inside and out and Fox & Finch and you can pop in for drinks (they are licensed), coffee or a bite to eat as we did. The staff were all super welcoming.

Take a seat and staff will come over with menus and take your order. You pay at the end at your table / the bar.

Click on the menu photo above the enlarge. I thought the breakfast menu was brilliant with a good mix of dishes. I thought prices were reasonable too when compared with similar establishments. Eggs Benedict is £5.95 and a bacon sandwich £4.45 for example.

If you're bringing little ones along with you, mini breakfasts are available too and kids can enjoy beans on toast (£3), a little fox breakfast (£4), scrambled egg on toast (£3) or mini buttermilk pancakes with nutella and strawberries (£4).

We were spoilt for choice but in the end decided to go with Biscoff Buttermilk Pancakes (£6.95) and the Fox Breakfast (£9.95 - a smaller version is available for £6.95).

Plus two Americanos which were perfect. I loved our seat by the table - perfect for people watching.

There wasn't too long to wait for our food to arrive and we couldn't fault our dishes at all. Everything was cooked well, beautifully presented and really tasty. The portions were substantial too and we were both happy customers.

I was worried my pancakes may have been overly sweet but they weren't and I actually managed to finish them all without feeling sickly. The balance of Biscoff sauce, Biscoff crumbs and fruit was perfect and I'm going to sound like Goldilocks here put the portion was just right too.

We will definitely return with Fozzy in the near future. A lush dog-friendly venue with lovely staff, a welcoming & relaxed vibe and delicious food in a perfect location.
